Blissful mornings at Leewood on Dartmoor with Jane Deane and small group of crafters.

HanddyedbyKate

Lovely, helpful, experimental dyer based in Wales who tries out all colour families, bases and techniques.

I made a version of Joji’s 3 colour cashmere shawl with Kate’s Time for Some Drama ! and Faded memories.  The colour saturation and placement is fantastic and her yarn bases are lovely to work with.

Looking for inspiration for a new shawl design.

Garter stitch accessories have been the friend of the brain-dead in the last few months.

My Matchmaker by Martina Behm.  300g of assorted Manos Silk Blend from deep in the stash.  Gorgeous to knit with and an interesting construction.

An easy one hour knit in Alex Mcleod’s Coolree baby alpaca chunky.  No tassles.  I’m not that kind of girl.

Not mindless garter stitch our Kvosin.  Some colourwork and cabling to keep you awake.  This hibernated on and off.  I finished it last week and instantly looked like a giant, giant dork.  Bad rasta.  Not cool hipster.  Mr Stephen West.  Nay matter.  Entirely my fault – used thicker yarn and somehow migrated to larger needles at one of the many stages.

Good things about this project;

1.  Used my explorer mohair tweed from GBYs – about 300m – so lovely to work with and wear.

2.  Learned a cable rib thing which would be lovely on a jumper or sleeve

3.  Ended up with a lovely, slightly over-engineered cowl instead (just unpick last few crown rows) which looks properly expensive and not at all lairy like in the photos.

Bargain shawl based on Paulina P’s Cameo construction.  My yarn was feather light bargaintasia – a pound a skein outside the yarn store in Swanage. Lovely colours and enough left for another extravaganza.

Some lovely gradients and families probably for a Leftie or Endless Rainbow by Martina Behm.  Maybe a Daybreak by Stephen West.

Father Christmas delivered a considerable amount of new yarn…this little stash via The Netloft in Alaska who have a fainty gorgeous selection including Snow Capped Yarns Olde Salt Collection and Three Irish Girls.  Free postage over ‘cough’ a certain amount of yarn.  I have some plans but may have to stroke them gently for some time yet.

The skeins below will be made into Halfway There by Veera Valimaki but the yardage is generous so lots more scope.

Cottage garden – perfect.

Like the kitten of all skeins.

Five moons – favourite new UK find.  The colours are gorgeous and the skeins smell heavenly.  Thinking of using some of the multi-coloureds for Nymphalidia (with a solid) and Marina by Woolly Wormhead.
